Response

My inital response to Julien Douvier's work on "Routine" reflects the repetativness of being in the same place every day, doing the same sequence of actions. The technique took a long time to figure out, due to the equiptment available to me.

To begin, I put a rulur at each point in which the person running was at every 1 second, in order to mark out exactly which section of the video would be cut out. I then created layer masks on each of the videos, using the ruled out bit, as well as copieing them into five new layers which would soon become ongoing looping videos.

I then proceeded to rearrange each loop so that the runner was repeated at the same time. It was important to note that even when the image entered one layer mask, it still had to finish completly in the previous layer mask in oreder for them to flow. This showed the importance of using diferent video groups, as it enabled me to overlap each video.

Once I had placed each clip in the correct sequence, I repeated them so that each layer mask would be repeating and have a runner in each, mkaing the effect of several people all running across at the same time. I also added a seperate screenshot on the very bottom layer, so that when one clip ends and has a while for the next to begin, the full picture will remain.
