Development

Progressing on from Julien Douviers work, I decided to incoorporate the use of a clock to display the message more clearly. I began by creating a cinemagraph in order to pick up the technique of using a clock wihtin my work, as it is important for the loop to continue on the correct time, in order for it to be realistic. I then went on to add the secondary video of an individual looking bored, whilst doing work and 'procratinating' which is the main narritive behind this piece. Once this had een added and the loop timing worked out, I added a mask on the backround video in order for the clock to be seen changing time at a faster pace than normal, to reflect how quickly time is wasted when procrastinating. In order to improve this piece, I would have like to use a studio light rather than natural light, in order to adjust the lighting reflected on what time it was, to make the image even more realistic.

Overall, I am pleased with this developoment, as it portrays a clear narritive of procratsination within, and to an extent, gives a realistic if slightly overexagurated view, of how time can be wated when bored. The repetative tapping of the pen gives an insight into the bordem of the individual, whilst the blue tone of the image reflects the sadness that it is portraying.

Narrative photography is the idea that photographs can be used to tell a story. Allen Feldman stated that "the event is not what happens. The event is that which can be narrated" ~ Wikipedia
