Dan Mountford

The work produced by Dan Mountford uses double exposure to reveal individual characteristics within the photo, which enables a narritive to be displayed in the depths of the image, using double exposure to tell a story. Its as if the picture layered over the individual represents them. Each individual image constists of two seperate photo's that link together to form an expressive piece that can interpreted in different ways. The ciarette piece particularly inspires me, as it represents how addiction can take over ones life, in that it is the center of all thoughts and actions. This is a very different form of narrative,, and rather than being a story throughout the picture, it is more of an issue or matter that is a split section out of the overall narrative of ones life.

Narrative photography is the idea that photographs can be used to tell a story. Allen Feldman stated that "the event is not what happens. The event is that which can be narrated" ~ Wikipedia
