Inital Videos

The intial videos taken were purely to learn how to create cinemagraphs. I shot the videos in a way that has two componants within the picture moving, in order to create a surrealitic view, and take it from a plain video to a cinemagraph. I found that as long as these two componants don't overlap, the cinemgraph can be created with the use of layer masks.

First Cinemagraph Attempts

These cinemagraphs were all relitivly easy to create, however I faced a few issues. Firstly I found the importance of using a tripod to keep the image still, as seen in the first cinemagraph where it is clear that the candle is wobbling due to a shaky hand. Another point I found, was that it was essential to make sure each moving object does not overlap, for example in the beer shot, the people moving behind it due to its translucentcy affects the end result of the cinemgraph. I intend to use cinematography to portray a narrative throughout, and attempt to send a message within.

Narrative photography is the idea that photographs can be used to tell a story. Allen Feldman stated that "the event is not what happens. The event is that which can be narrated" ~ Wikipedia
